Coco, our Hero
Our Frenchie, Coco, died today. It was unexpected. She had just given birth to three adorable puppies three days ago. She seemed fine postpartum until early this morning. She couldn't stand up anymore and looked frail. We rushed her to the vet but unfortunately, we didn't make it on time. It was truly a heartbreaking experience.
However, after all the cries and wails that Tali and I shared, we both realized one thing...we were to be blamed. We were negligent. We are not good dog owners. Tali mentioned earlier that she realized that there's more to it than just playing with the dogs. It takes a whole lot of responsibility to be a pet owner. They are not just like toys. She admitted that she was like that towards all our dogs. We had 5 dogs BTW...well, now we have 7 dogs (2 English Bulldogs, 1 Maltese, 1 Bichon Frise and 3 mixed breed puppies (Coco's babies with a random dog)).
As painful the experience was, I'm grateful for the lesson that it left us. The whole family was reminded to be good stewards of God's blessings. Sometimes we take things for granted because they are there. Once they're gone, that's when you feel the pain of the loss. That's when we think of the shoulda, coulda, wouldas. This is a painful reminder that our blessings can go away as easily as they come. We can not predict when or how it will happen but one thing we can do is to be good stewards of our blessings.
